It's not a name...it's a movement.
A few weeks ago, my husband (who is also my COO) texted me with some unfortunate news. After beginning the process to trademark this business he discovered that during the same week that we had filed my LLC, another company trademarked “Maiden to Mother.” It felt like a punch to the gut. I mean, what are the odds?
Of course, this was a lot to process and brought us to a critical decision point: Do we enter into a legal battle, do take the risk of continuing to operate under the current name? Or do we change our name?
Starting a new business from the ground up is a LOT of work (I’m sure you all know that). And honestly, all of the options felt both daunting and risky. As I began to process and take in the potential impact on the business and process my disappointment and discouragement at having to add a whole slew of other work to my plate due to this, I also started to let my mind wander to other potential names for this business.
And that’s when my husband sent this text of encouragement, and an idea sparked.
What I am creating (with the help of so many others) is a MOVEMENT. It’s a movement towards improving the well-being of mothers. Because when mothers are WELL. They can mother well. :) So we are officially changing our name.
We are The MotherWell Movement™ - a connected and empowered wellness community for moms.
This is a movement to expose and undo the shame narratives that drive loneliness in motherhood. This is a movement to remove the stigma around “taboo” topics that keep us isolated to struggle on our own when in reality, we aren’t alone at all in these struggles. This is a movement to reject the reductive and binary labels imposed upon us by our culture. This is a movement towards greater self-awareness, fulfillment and freedom both as mothers and as women. This is a movement for mothers supporting other mothers and growing together.
Won’t you join us?
XO,
Bree
